Best Books for Preparing for Podiatry Residency Interviews and Externships

When you are looking for books to prepare yourself for residency interviews, you want to focus on books that are concise. Listen, McGlamery and Mann are nice but during a residency interview they are not going to ask you to perform surgery.  They are going to ask questions that typically have one succinct answer. This isn’t the essay portion of the SAT’s, it is the Math portion.  You either answer the question correctly or wrong.

So in the spirit you want a book that provides you sample questions you would be asked.  And in that case you want the book Podiatry Rapid Fire Questions. This will allow yourself to drill in knowledge while allowing your non Podiatry friends to ask you questions.  Is being able to answer stupid questions about antibiotic coverage necessary to being a good Podiatry resident? No, obviously, but we have to play the game and Podiatry Rapid Fire Questions help you play the game.

The other book I would highly recommend is The Watkins Foot and Ankle Manual. This is a concise book that focuses on the main material one will need as they prepare for Podiatry externships and residency interviews.  This will provide a short synopsis of articles and provide the essential information you will need to answer questions from residency directors as well as other residents.
