Best Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy textbooks on the market

It used to be you could not find a foot and ankle arthroscopy textbook anywhere ever.  But recently two fairly high quality foot and ankle arthroscopy textbooks were published.

The first book we have to choose from is The Foot and Ankle Advanced Arthroscopic Surgical Techniques. This book was published just recently in 2017.   This textbook has some high quality pictures and illustrations as well.  One of the great parts of this textbook on Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy is that it goes step by step through every procedure, with surgical indications what equipment you need and positioning of the patient.  That being said the highlight of this textbook is the narrated video that accompanies every surgical procedure.  You don’t have to just rely on pictures; you also have access to actual video of someone doing and narrating the procedure.  Additionally, you have 5 technique pearls for every procedure.

Many procedures are specifically discussed including:

Subtalar Arthroscopy through the lateral portal

Scoping the Achilles Tendon

and Scoping of the First Metatarsal joint in addition to scoping the Ankle.  It’s all here.

Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy:  Here is another textbook on Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy currently available, also published in 2017..  This is another high quality textbook which covers: Ankle, Subtalar, Achilles, in addition to evaluating the Peroneals and Tibiailis Posterior Tendon via the Arthroscope, Flexor Hallucis Longus Tendon, as well as Intermetarsal Nerve Decompression. It has enhanced navigation.  As always they take you step by step through the procedure going over the equipment and indications.  One of the unique things about this book is it allows you to share notes and talk about tips with other Foot and Ankle Arthroscopy surgeons.

Arthroscopy and Endoscopy of the Foot and Ankle: This book is a little dated and might be nice if you are looking for a history lesson or just want as much information as possible.   But it does go over a lot of the procedures so it does have that going for it.
